hi there ...a question for any lawdog enthusiasts out there or anybody else who would be in the know.....I have a friend who was a gunhunter and has recently come under a firearms prohibition( no violence the charge was for having an unregistered firearm) any way he thinks that he is still able to hunt with a longbow...not a crossbow because it is specifically mentioned in the prohibition.....he says he has heard of people in this similar situation and that they were allowed to hunt with a bow....anyone with any expierience with a situation like this????...some facts would help.....

I would suggest you tell your friend to engage his lawyer and confirm....since none of us know the terms of his prohibition...

Every prohibition has terms and conditions which can vary from case to case. The only person who can answer the question is your friend's lawyer.
He should confirm that it is acceptable under the terms of the prohibition to hunt with a bow. It is the only way to be sure since I don't have the prohib order in front of me...

(•possessing any firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, ammunition, prohibited ammunition, explosive substance or all such things)....that is how it reads.....it is the standard one used i think???

Could be but is it worth the risk given the situation for you to take advice from an internet bulletin board rather than 5 mins from his lawyer? Seriously, think about it. The consequence of getting in wrong are rather extreme. Get hold of his lawyer, and confirm.

yes of course....but even his laywer, nor the cops , nor the court have any experience with this kind of thing...thats the reason why he asked me to seek out some info from possibly someone on here who might have had some experience with a similar situation...we are in PEI nad we might as well be living in a third world country down here........so we were hoping that someone with a law enforcement or legal type of background would be able to help us.....????
