:?: I'm looking for some good info on what would be a good tire combination to put on my 2004 Grizzly to keep me moving in the mud. I love the bike, but it's so heavy that I spent more time winching and getting towed last week when we were scouting our moose hunting area than I spent moving under my own power.

The stock tires are not very aggressive and are 25-8-12 front and 25-10-12 rear. Has anybody tried the ITP 589's, or the Mud Bugs? Could I go to a 26 inch tire without having to lift or shim anything? I am not worried about losing power, there's lots available.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. :-)

Thanks,
Grizzly

:-) Thanks Warden.

How do you like them on dry trails, are they rough? And how about in the snow, I use my quad all winter keeping my yard and driveway plowed.

I have seriously been thinking about these tires, I think it will just be a matter of where I can get them for the best price. My buddy has the Mud Bugs on his Kodiak and it runs around like a little tractor, pulling everybody out. Makes you sick to see his smug face  .

I'd love to get a set of mudders and have to pull him out :hump: .

Thanks again,
Grizzly

You know grizz, the itp's are not rough on hard trails. The only time that you will notice the roughness is when you are moving it around your garage or loading it. The tires have help up perfectly (about 2000 miles) and show very little signs of wear. They are exceptional in the mud and work very well on hard ground.

The great thing is that you don't have to spin your tires to get moving. That in it's self is invaluable. Less impact on the environment as you go about your business. I highly recommend them.

 I use a set of mudzilla's 28'' 12x12 on all 4 corners and love them but I have a front diff lock on my kawi650 so it's easy to steer but so does the grizz you got the power so use it. They sell 26'' and yes there great in snow as well the only place there not are ice and rock caps.

Grizz,

My son put some Gators on his 450ES and you should see him go in mud or snow. He is running the same tire size that you are and he plows his driveway, uphill even.
I put Kenda Bearclaws on my 400 Foreman and they do not even come close to the performance of the Gators. I let him break trail in the snow.
You do not want him going across your lawn though, unless you're planning on re-seeding. They rip up the ground just like a rotovator.
I can't say what the ride like on hard ground, but he has had them on for over a year now and they are sure standing up wear wise.
We live in a country settings so it's just a matter of going out the back door to do some quading so the machines are used more than average.
He paid about $120 a tire at the local OK Tire store, this was 20 bucks more that what I paid for the Bearclaws. He put his on after I put mine, but had I waited to install new rubber, I would have happily copied him and paid the extra cash. Check them out.

I run 26" ITP XTR Mudlite's on my Kawasaki Brute Force 650, & 25" Kenda Bear claws on the Honda 350 Fourtrax ES. Both work excellent.
If you want good info on ATV tires go to ATVFRONTIER forums and look up tires they have complete reviews. Mr. Red is the Kawasaki moderator and he has a lot of good information regarding ATV's in general.
