About 15 years ago i aquired a bear whitetail II compound bow i think i got it mail order from the winipeg fur. Anyway due to one thing or another i could not find the time to use it as much in later years. Now with more time on my hands and an abundance of small game in my area this year i decided to find it somewhere in dads shed dust it off and reclaim it. Only problem is i imagine that it may need some maintenace in order to be safe to use after all these years and i have a few questions for your kind selves.
1) is it true that older bows need different types of strings than the newer more modern bows and the limbs could be damaged if the wrong string was used.
2) I don't recal reciving a manual with this bow and i was wondering where i may get my hands on one. I have some specific questions about the draw weight and what the two black disks on the cable are for.
Lots more questions to follow
I was hoping to get started practicing asap and would apriciate any help that can be rendered. You could also prevent me from injuing myself.
I also notice that you have alot of vendors advertising here and if they ship their wears i would be interested in making some investments with them as this bow is only inteneded to be tempory to get me back into the sport. I imagine it will be fine for small game.
Please forgive my ignorance but i havent as much as knocked an arrow in ten years and the sport has made leaps and bounds since i was a teen.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
