Greetings to all Archers, as stated at the Provincial Championships in Calgary on July 26, 2008 the minutes of that meeting were to be posted on Bowzone. The following minutes have been read and approved by Doug Carlson representing the 3DAA, Stan Schamuhn ABA and Brian Struthers ATAA. Please remember to find out when your affiliate Annual General Meetings are and attend to let your executive know what action you would like them to take on your behalf.
Please note that these minutes are only provided as information for all archers in Alberta.

Interesting read.
It seems everyone is in agreement that the merger could generate more members and give archers a stronger voice with government thus allowing for more funding.
My question
As the ABAA is Alberta's voice to government and the only lobby group to the FCA and the province where are all the new members going to come from. Presently, members of the ABA, ATAA, 3DAA are all represented within the ABAA are they not? I know the ABAA executive consists of mebers of the ABA and the ATAA. It would make sense to have a 3DAA member on the ABAA executive as well. If the ABA is not active on the ABAA executive they can be as the ABAA consitution outlines executive positions from both groups.
As a member of the ABA and 3DAA am I not actually counted twice when they combine the membership of each organization to present to government or does someone in the ABAA actually got through each groups membership and ensure members are not double counted. Worse case is that it would appear membership is actually declining after a merger.
Would each group not actually have less money to work with (lower money generated from membership and possibly lower government funding if membership were to show a decline). If each group received a 1/3 of the memebrship fee would they not generate less money from a combined membership (presently I join ABA and 3DAA) or would the cost of a new merged organizations membership incorporate the cost of all three. In other words would the fee for an ABAA membership be 120-150$.
I can see how a merger might save me money (lower membership cost) but can't see how the proposal would generate greater membership or allow for more funding.
