FCA Athlete Representative Election Process 2008

FCA Athletes' representative position
The athletes' representative (able-bodied) position comes up for election every two years. Consequently, the nomination for this position is open until June twentieth (20th) 2008. The candidate must be a member of the 2008 Excellence Program.

The person(s) wishing to apply for the position of athletes’ rep. must submit his/her name. Fill out the form below that must include the names of two persons proposing the nomination. Also the nominee must sign the nomination form stating that, if elected, he/she accepts the position of athlete’s representative. A résumé must be included when the nomination is returned to the FCA office by the deadline date.

After June twentieth (20th) a ballot containing the candidates’ applications along with their résumés will be mailed to the voting members. The ballot must be returned to FCA Executive Director before August third (3rd) 2008. The name of the new Athletes' Rep. will be announced in Winnipeg, MB during the Canadian Target Championship.

All nominees or ballots not conforming to the directives indicated will be rejected.

In order to be nominated or to apply for the Athletes' Representative Position the person must have participated:

n at the Olympics/Paralympic Games, or
n the Pan Am Games or World Cup or
n A World Target Championship in the past eight (8) years

The task consists of:
n Taking part in all meetings related to the athlete’s rep. position, such as:
n COC Congress (if requested)
n Athletes Can meeting (Association of Canadian Athletes) (yearly)
n Take part in all the HPC meetings
n There is a monthly (or when needed) meeting on ICQ (Internet), to assure the success of the program.
n Attend the annual HPC meeting: establish athlete’s criteria, programming and any other pertinent subjects.
n The Athletes' rep. may also be called upon to help resolve problems encountered by other athletes.
n Promote the sport of archery in all its aspects.
n Give helpful information to the athletes and future athletes, and inform them of FCA’s mandate and programs.
n It is understood that this position is extended to all categories and styles of shooters.

At this moment the athlete’s rep. position consumes approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) hours weekly.

N.B. working assets:
It is preferable that the candidates have e-mail, be connected to Internet, possess or have access to a photocopy machine and telephone. A working knowledge of both official languages is an asset but not obligatory. This position is strictly on a volunteer basis and there is no expense account.
