I'm currently looking into starting an indoor Range / Club in my local area, due to the complete lack of places to shoot, my area is known as the black hole for clubs. We really need a closer place to shoot in the winter especially, the closest clubs are almost an hour away.
I'm currently a member of the OAA, (I'm in Ontario), and the FCA already, if that helps.

Does anyone know the steps I need to follow to start an indoor range / club, any tips or resources that anyone can share are appreciated, (Government Grants, Start up loans, bursaries, etc..), I'll be sure to post my experiences in learning about the process as I go as well for others in the future who may wish to do the same.

Any help is appreciated,
Craig

I'm in the process of starting one here in Nova Scotia and am having great luck with support of the village I'm living in.
I started with talking to the County Rep which set me up with the County Recreational Assoc and they got me set up with several grants to fund a building for indoor shooting and a 3D range.
I started with a gathering of the villagers that would be interested in archery and made a list of the people and put together a bussiness plan. I presented it and it took about 2 weeks and it was approved.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi,

I am from Claresholm, AB. We have had our club in Stavely for about 10 years. An hour south of Calgary. We had a curling rink there that wasn't being used. So we decided to ask the town. What was going to happen to the place? And they weren't using it, so we decide to move in. All we had to pay was electricity, heat and insurance on the building and we could use it. I know that a couple of towns around have done the same. We get grants from organizations around town and the recreation commity.
