I ordered My 4.5 year old Girl her first real bow today
a 48" TD recurve that maxes out at 20 pounds at 24" draw ... she draws at about 14" ...so I am looking fer arra' advice ... i was thinking maybe some Easton 1416 Jazz ... or maybe some Carbon Impact 1200 spine
any advice from those with young shooters in the Family?

I started my grandson with a PSE sherriff when he was three . kids don`t like to look for arrers so i would just cut down your busted ones . She might keep you busy doing that.

Cut down your broken arrows???
Would you shoot an arrow spined at 300#?
No, then why make a kid shoot arrows that can not possibly fly right.
You can get 24" 1/4" Ramin shafts $3.25/doz, $23/100 from Git-r-done in Calgary . http://git-r-donearchery.com/index.html
He has the proper points $350/Doz and nocks, and small feathers also. Ask about the price on nocks and kid feather fletches, they are cheap too.
I use these for my grand children and they are good, and stick in the targets!!!
You should be able to make up kid arrows for about a buck each.

A 4 year old shoots for fun !! if you are worrying about spine you have them shooting for all the wrong reasons . I scrounge all the broken all the broken arrows i find and make arrows for kids .. I have never heard a complaint that the spine isn`t right or they don`t match.

My little guy started shooting @ 4 ,and for afew yaers that is all he shot was my cut down arrows. He is now 11 and has become quite accomplished using those old shafts. But now shoots a 24in. Beman ICS Junior Hunter's. They fly pretty good out of his 40lb. Senica compound.:)

You are right, a 4 year old shoots for fun, I never thought a buck an arrow was to to much to spend for a kid to have a bow that shoots well for them too. Hitting the target is fun too.
They do learn a lot faster when the arrow can have the posibilityof flying like it should, straight, and far and sticking into a target instead of bouncing off. My 3 year old grandson was squeeling with delight every time an arrow stuck in and stayed. He has 16" long ramins 4 fletched, and an 8# bow at 14".
I have the grand kids shooting for "fun", and they love it. We spent all day in their yard with some 3D targets and had a blast.
We don't worry if they hit or miss, but we all cheer when they do hit and stick.

Shooting hand me down shafts, did'nt seem to affect his shootingfrom 10 to20m. and thinking back it was'nt the dollar figure of a buck a arrow, moreso the fact that the closest archery shop was a three hour side in the pick up.Secondly, back in the aluminum shaft days he also learned at a early age to use tubing cutter and fletching jig, thinking he was actually building his own arrows. This gave us some great times in the pasture shooting and also in the basement building arrows.

ok ...so I got a differant Bow ... because Evidently no supplier in the western world carries the Internature 48" bow anymore ... so we got a 54" PSE heritage Olympic recurve at 20# at 28" ... little lighter draw but man is she ever having fun .... I built some 1416 Jazz for her and fletched them up with 2" blazers ... cause she likes em and they look like my hunting arrows ....
we shot a bunch yesterday and she is having a blast ... bit too much snow to hit the turkey but she loves shooting at my Bulldog target and my Morrells target
