Does anyone have an idea how to remove old hide from a skull, I have several mounts to do but don't know the easiest way to remove hide.

I have heard that if you got some time you can bury the skull in an ant hill. You can also boil it and scrape off the bits.

Its for deer and elk, I heard putting the head in an ant hill or a bucket of magots will do wonders, but in winter thers no ant hill around and to buy magots can be expensive.

If it's just dryed hide submerge in water for a few days and the skin will soften up and you'll be able to scrap it off with no problem.
