2. 2008 Indoor FCA Regional Championships - Site Registration
The 2008 FCA’s indoor national championships will be held on March 1-2 at sites across the country. Clubs may register to host this event before the deadline of February 1, 2008 at:

2008 Indoor Nationals Site Registration http://www.fca.ca/IndoorChamps/ is available.
All sites register directly on the FCA website, NOT with the FCA office.

IMPORTANT!
The Bowhunter Unsighted equipment division is "Conditional" for this Championship because it received fewer than 10 registrations for three consecutive years. Unless at least 15 archers complete the form below by January 21, 2008, declaring their intention to register in the Bowhunter Unsighted division, it will not be included in the 2008 Championships.

A notice in this space will appear by February 1 indicating if this division will be included or not.

“I intend to compete in the Bowhunter Unsighted Division in the 2008 Regional Indoor Championships. I understand that if fewer than 15 people indicate that they intend to register, this division will not be held.”

To contact the FCA programme co-ordinator, you can reach Carolin Schmidt at: indoor@ca.inter.net or (416) 699-4914

3. 2008 FCA Mailmatches
http://www.fca.ca/MM/mailmatchinfo.html
The Mail Match is a competition held every year from the first of January to the end of March. Competitors may shoot a maximum of 1 round (FITA 1 – 30 arrows at 18 metres) per week for 12 weeks. These scores are sent to the Mail Match Chairman who sends out monthly updates of scores and averages. At the end of the 12 weeks the six best scores for each archer are averaged and medals awarded in each division and classification. Pins are also awarded for six for sixty (paid for by the competitor at a cost of $5.25 per pin, plus GST/HST and shipping).

The Mail Match is an excellent competition for the archer who cannot get to any of the larger tournaments during the winter months. It also gives you an idea as to how other archers are shooting by comparison. This competition is good practice for tournaments but under less stressful conditions.

If you wish to join the Mail Match, contact your club president or secretary. To contact FCA’s mailmatch co-ordinator, Trina Snooks, you can reach her at her new e-mail address: mailmatch@atlanticarchery.ca

5. Applications for National Outdoors and National Clinic for Judges
Official team (6 judges)
The FCA Judge Committee Chairperson now is accepting applications from qualified judges wishing to participate in the next Canadian Target & Field Championships that will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba from August 1 to August 9, 2008

All judge applicants will be considered, not only on experience, but also from the perspective of the development of Canadian Archery. There will be a certain amount of FCA financial support (to be defined) to defray travel costs. This financial assistance is limited, and judges are urged to seek additional support form their provincial associations. In the past, judges also received a per diem ($40.00), accommodation (double occupancy) and local transport.

The FCA Judge Committee plans to send the names of the Judge corps (6 judges) to FCA Executive by the beginning of March 2008. (Note: The FCA does not pay for the National candidates who are not members of official Team of 6 Judges even though they work at the Championships. So please, ask to your provincial association for financial help)

Judges Clinic
During the Championships, FCA organises a National Judge Clinic. National Judges Candidates, National Judges, and even Continental and International Judges are encouraged to attend.

The National Judge Candidates will receive documents to fill out (cases study and exams) in March. So it is important for FCA that they apply very early. The candidates will have the possibility to work at the Championships with seniors Judges. All interested judges must fill out the application form below and send it directly to the address indicated below.

9. The World Cup Competitions for 2008
The competitions will take place:
Dominican Republic April 1 - 6, 2008
Porec, Croatia April 15 - 19, 2008
Antalya, Turkey May 27 - 31, 2008
Boé, France June 23 - 29, 2008

The entry forms for the first World Cup event in the Dominican Republic are now available and I have the registration package.

Canada can enter 4 men and 4 women in each of the Compound and Recurve divisions. There are no junior or cadet categories in World Cup Competitions.

The preliminary registration for the World Cup in the Dominican Republic must be done by the FCA using FITA's online registration system by January 15, 2008. If you would like to go to this World Cup event, please email me with your intentions and the information required on the registration form. If more than 4 archers from any category apply to go to the competition, the top 4 from the final 2007 FCA ranking list will be chosen.

Please read ALL the information in the attached document as there may be penalties for changing your mind. The FCA will also book the required accommodation for those attending - the archers going will be billed and will pay the FCA for it with a credit card.

It is not known yet if there will be any funding from the FCA for this event. There is a small chance that Sport Canada will provide some money for the recurve archers to assist in preparation for the 2008 Olympics.

If you would like to attend this competition, please email me by January 10th with the information required.
