A couple guys were culling rainbows. As they caught bigger ones, the smaller ones on the stringer were getting thrown back. Since they were using bait, it can be assumed that the fish they released were going to die, and if that did not kill them the stress from being on a stringer would have.

I have arrested 7 and sence I retired I have reported 2.

The 7 that were arrested were all shooting deer on DND property over a period of 4 years.

The 2 that I reported were on my land in Mackay. One guy was from Alaska hunting elk in the middle of the summer. He had quite a set up. Camp and all right in the middle of my grazing lease that I was fencing.

The other was already mentioned in another post. Shooting everything he could and I caught him. He is not a happy camper at this time. He met bubba!!!! :mooned: :super_hap

A guy asked us if we were looking for moose in a draw zone and we said yes. He said we could have his that was already field dressed because his friend with the tag had not showed up. It was 23 degress celsius and already lunchtime, we said no thank you. We mentioned it to a wildlife officer later in the day and he said we were right to refuse. He tracked the guy down to his home a couple days later from the partial company name and partial phone number we gave him. His only comment was that he had a dream that the officer would be coming. He probably didn't sleep much. The moose was in his garage and he did not have a tag. I received a reward for my information.

Way too many to recollect.....and more that I have turned a blind eye to because I have known there was no way F/W would be able to pinch them.

Just to mention a few......road warriors shooting a moose from a maintained PAVED road from their vehicle, another guy shot a whitey on posted land that only I had permission on, two other idiots shot a cow and calf moose from their VAN on a maintained road and waited for two friends to show up to tag the animals, came upon another guy hunting in a treestand over a pile of apples in the middle of the bush..........and the list goes on!!

Reported some chatty guys a few years back that were passing through our camp to fish and found them illegally keeping a large cooler full of bull trout out in the middle of nowhere west of the whaleback... F&W came driving by and asked if anyone had driven through so we told them to check out a beige suburban... they were not too happy driving back through our camp on the way home.

Not a poacher persay, but I did report a couple of gentleman who were in the process of dumping the carcasses of 2 large bull moose that they had harvested legally but due to laziness had not got them processed in time and they were green by the time I saw them. I was so totally Pi@*ed off I called the CO's with my cellphone while standing right beside their truck. They tried to run but I followed them and they were caught near the residence of one of the fellows. I no longer hunt in that area for obvious reasons....

Yup...several times...

Big problem this year and last in Lanark county in Ontario with road hunters....two different crews jacklighting from trucks after dark with crossbows....
I am told they will shoot, then come back later to recover the animal...my folks have found two gut piles hidden back in their swamp this and last year...found three crossbow bolts as well in two locations...CO`s on top of them, they know who they are....
I sit with the binocluars and write down their plates from my tree stand....
There is a whopper of a buck I passed up Nov,12/08, tailing a doe...very large deer, stopped counting times at 14....just moving too quickly and right at me...not a great shot angle..
I told my Dad about the deer and two days later right off the road one of the same vehicles was seen within a hundred yards of where the big deer moves in the evening...
He finally got their plate...and as he passed them the passenger had a rifle across his lap...they have not been seen since...it`s gotten really bad in this area for this activity..

This season I was out and one of the land owners in the area I hunt was being a bit to unethical for my likeing so I made the call. Last year I caught him hunting on a quad before noon on a sunday, but never called in on it, this year, after two quading infractions, and watching him shoot two does knowing he had only a buck tag I felt it was time to alert the F&W, A week after shooting the doe's he shot a buck. I called in to the local F&W office, and told them about the account, they did not have enough reason to get a search warrent so he slid on it for awhile. About a week later he was pulled over in a routine check, and rambled on about shooting a 4x3 buck, the F&W officer ask to check his tags, He still had two doe tags, and to the surprise of all a Buck tag. They charged him with the buck right away, and after getting my statment were charging him with poaching a doe. I could not give them a 100% on the second doe so unless he confesses to that as well he will slide on it. They figured since it was his second offence, he should get 3 to 5 years suspension, and about $3000. It will be hard hunting there next year because he will know I Ratted on him, but the way I figure it, he made his own bed.
