As of right now today:

Do you need to poach a doe to survive (private poll)

Not in future not in past.... right this minute!.....

If you post yes... state your reasons, and why you would not use other options available!...

NO, Not hungry at this moment. Was'nt that doe meat you gave me?

With the insult out of the way. I would not shoot a doe. I know in Alberta there is an abundance of deer (does and bucks) but here in NS there seems to be a shortage of antler and not many does ether. At least were I live.

Kinda a loaded question huh ... as everyone that will anser has internet access ... so everyone has some sort of possestion ....

But if I were in that situation ... I would probally live on Rabbits as there is an abundance of them around here as they seem to fornicate like ...well bunnies ...and they are easy to snare so I wouldnt need any arrows or .22 shells ...just a knife, some fire and sticks .... yummy ... good eatin'.

Kind of a loaded question huh!.... if you have a computer..... you must have some assets in order to not have to poach!.....

Just adding to the fact that in Today's society there are very few people who would have to resort to poaching to feed family.....

Poaching is a huge problem...... just illustrating how few people "need" to poach!....

and why I would report.... chances of me reporting an "honest" poacher is very minimal....

I have only met 2 or 3 people in my lifetime who really would fall in that category!...

AC,

You are asking us if we would poach, personally I dont have to at this time because I could sell my computer for meat and not sit here and argue with you. But, what about the people that are less fortunate then us and dont have a computer to answer your question. Do you think they would like to sit here and type this or feed their family. One sided conversation without the input of the less fortunate. I was there once and know how it feels to have to use the system and get little help.
To go to the food bank and receive a basket to feed the family DOSE NOT HAVE ANY MEAT IN IT. The basket is to cover the family for a week, but when the food bank is stressed and has little to give, a week is along time.

Heres a thought. Try making a personal poll and hand caring it to the less fortunate and see what their response is. Not the city, but out in the country where I used to live. I am sure that you will find out if you are in season.

I understand what you are saying about poaching as I have witnessed a individual that shot several animals and even a cow just for the fun of it and left the animals sit to rot. He got what he dissevered. The last two deer that he shot were found right a way and was taken to the butchers and processed to be distributed to some needy families by the authorities. Guess what, they knew who the needy were.

So what I'm trying to say is "get off your pompous *$@ and ask the rest of the less fortunate

DZ I understand where you are coming from

Sometimes do you think "less fortunate" is a result of laziness....? or bad choices regarding addictions etc.....

There have been success stories from people who have started in the worst situations and failures in those who have started from the best situations!.....

and if I was going to take the time and make a poll and hand deliver it... perhaps I could be delivering food! instead.....

I guess my big point is that there are very few "legitimatel needy" poachers!.... and if they are you don't hear about it!....

Your first line is kind of prejudice considering the less fortunate (lazy druggies) are not here to defend themselves against calling them that. Perhaps you should apply some of your time at a hostel. I have and it gives you compassion towards the ones that have problems other then drugs or being lazy.

Now for your third line. Fallow what was said, do the poll and GET THEIR POINT OF VIEW.

Now do not take this personal but "legitimatel" is not a word. Now with this being said, you will try to prove me wrong on this. :sos:

I'm not condoning shooting any animal out of season. Just trying to get it into your head that less fortunate is not all bad and no mater how you try to spin it .

Stereotyping the less fortunate is not good no matter how you look at it.

I'm not here trying to stir up feathers or get ya mad at me, but you did ask for our opions.

DZ,

I am not stereo typing... just there are those who like to use the excuse of not being fortunate for being lazy... not all of them, but there are a few....

NOTICE I SAID "SOMETIMES"...

Like the able bodied gentleman asking for spare change.... how do i know he was able bodied.... he sure took off when he got in our face when we told him to get a job and our friend known as Biff told him to leave!.... he sure was able to make tracks!....

The people who get the gumption to take responsibility for their own destiny and get up and do something is who I have a lot of respect for.... whatever their circumstances....

The mentally challenged person who happily helps out and does what he can and puts a smile on my face.... while he is helping me with groceries.... is the one who finds somehing in their christmas stocking..... and who i point out to my children as a fine person who is working hard to do their best!....

Maybe you should quit being so pompous and judging.............me!....

You know the slack everyone seems to want to cut everyone else.... does not seem to apply to me because..... I open my mouth and am willing to take the flak for the position I have!..... and look at all sides of a view and make the decision most in line with my principles.... which may be unpopular...

It is funny whn people say: "Now don't take this personal....." means...

"I am about to insult you and you are not allowed to get mad!.......or else you are taking it personal!....."

Until we take things personal... things like... responsibility.... accountability.... ethics.... cahrity.... morals..... etc. Our society will continue to spin down the toilet!...

Who is society.... society is an impersonal group of people who do not want to take things personally....

WOW.........Cranked up again......

Hey I take responsibility for many aspects of my life including hunting..... If someone is poaching.... they are taking my opportunity... hurting my reputation.... etc.... So I take it personally!......

If I do something that you feel is wrong... it is fine to take it personally.... hey I can screw up... I am human.... I feel it would be crime if you blamed my actions on society, my upbringing, my addiction (archery), etc......

The folks that would help the person I refer to as an honest poacher are the ones that are willng to share the time for the crime because their own personal ethics direct them... I admire that... yet I would report it!......IF I SAW THEM!.... (because If I did not.... how could I take it personal... I am not directly involved)

Way off topic!............

With my limited amount of time I am sharing it with a sport I enjoy and people I enjoy being with.... who in turn wuill be role models for my own children....

Without reading a whole bunch. You poll makes the assumption that I'm accessing the 'net from home rather than a public library.

Thank You.... adds weight that there are options one may not think about unless pointed in right direction!....

AC,

I do see your point. I just find this very personal as I have dedicated 15 years to the less fortunate.
I have been approached by serveral individuals walking down Jasper ave or White ave and riding on the LRT looking for free hand outs wearing brand new nikeys. I have even seen drug lords living in Edmonton housing driving a Lexus. go figure. The car is worth more than my house.
But I have dealt with more people with honest problems then without.

Now back to the point of the question, I believe I voted no.
