I read a decent article in ATV World Magazine about the Midwest Quads (Three Hills, Alberta) and they ended up surprised to say that the quad performed well, certainly beyond their expectations, and only could contemplate complaining about average ground clearance and throttle speed to be acceptable but not as fast as the big brand machines... but then again, if you're buying a utility atv why would it need to do 0-60 in so many seconds anyway?
Has anyone bought one of the Midwest atv's, test drove one, or knows someone that has one? What's your impression?

when I was looking to buy a Quad, I looked at the Midwest ones, but the low price tag has some catches...You would have to purchase skid plates as they do not come stock, the winch was an extra as well as, if you wanted to get any ground clearance you would have to buy the Big Wheel kit. When all was said and done you could tack on another $2000-2500 smackers! I ended up buying a new Can-Am out of Montana for $6400. Comes with everything as it is the XT model. Just ordered some Ricochett full body skid plates for it from the States as well, Dirt cheap! I only had to pay the GST on the bike and the whole process of registering it up here is complete, no hassle at all. If you have a buddy down in the States....that would be the way to go.

And if you do buy one get a real good pair of boots . My friend got one and after 2 cdi in 30 hours we finally rewired it . some of the wireing was no better than speaker wire.

Good point guys!! Most people buy a quad and have it for a long time, only a fortunate few can afford to get a new quad every year or two. Spend the money on a brand name and enjoy it for many years to come!!!The old adage of you get what you pay for rings true for all the high priced toy's. Geez there are some smart guys on this site!

Thanks Scott! I'm a firm believer in proven brands... was just curious, that's all. I'm still another year away (at least) before getting a quad but I may just look into buying cross-border if they economy/currency is still in the same situation then.

We purchased a new WX300 Midwest quad in Feb 08 and have 300 kms on it with issues with tires not holding air (May be rims or tires???) dealer solution was to put more air in the tires so in rides terrible, Failed battery, cdi ignition issues (replace @ $300.00),hard starting issues, exhaust issues, poor plastic issues. When we spoke to the distributors service manager we were told that our only acceptable option was to pay the last bill of approx. $300.00 and take our chances with the unit or they could sell the unit and deduct the invoice from the sale price to get out of a bad situation. This machine was bought for my wife and has as many miles in the back of my truck as on the trails. Don,t waste your money with these guys.
