If it is a fly in hunt it must be guided right? If it is a guided hunt they should be able to cape it out for you and should have some kind of a system of preservation. They can't leave you hanging. If you can find someone to take the skull out it is better as it is easier to keep cool without that big steamy head in there. If it isn't too long in and out I've heard of people using dry ice.
Otherwise with no option to freeze, your only other option is turning everything and fleshing and salting but that can't be done without experience without causing other taxidermy problems. And your skull will be fine no matter what.

The best thing you can do if your going to be out for awhile, is to skin the paws and head, if you can.. lay it flat in a shaded area, and salt, salt, salt it. you do not need to flesh it just put salt on every piece of flesh. do not roll up the hide, and what ever you do do not try to freeze the hide after, the salt will keep the hide from freezing. Using dry ice may not be such a good thing, I have never used it for hides, but it is -78.5c degrees, so if you do do not let it come in contact with the hide, it will burn it, and may even freeze it to the point of the hide cracking.
Good luck

I don't agree with the salt on it without proper prep work. Too many people aren't careful enough with bears and they are the most common thing to have problems with b/c of the weather when they are being hunted. Salt will affect immediate area and if you don't flesh the fat off so that there is ONLY hide left, the salt will not penetrate enough to get to hair roots. Ears are commonly the first to have hair slippage. How will salting the hide help keep the hair on the ears. If you're going to risk it and go this route, take along a product called "stop rot". Flesh the animal out best you can, salt it, and spray the hell out of the face area and ears with this. If you want more info let me know. I'll order and mail you the stop rot if you like.

One thing that we have done when we flew in and did not have freezer space or a freezer is, We made sure we let it cool good first then triple or quad bag it and took it out into the Lake and put it in the water. The Lakes at this time of year are really cold if up north and they will keep them cool enough not to spoil.
