I am thinking of buying a spotting scope for elk hunting and am looking for some suggestions on what to buy. I don't have a whole lot of money, but could probably scrounge up enough for a decent one. What do you think?

Spotting scope are almost a must, Leupold make a 20x palm sized scope that runs around $500. give +/- $100.

I love my scope the Bino;s are fine but too get a good look at it a scope is a must... My 2 cents is when you get one look for one that you can change out the eye piece too diff powers so If you go Antelope hunting and you could use a more powerfull one then in the trees... Just my opinion.. let us know what you get...

Funny you should ask. I got them last night. They are great, clear, bright and built like a tank! Watch for the review and draw in the near future.

cdnarcher, I bought a Bushnell, Spacemaster scope last summer. Paid $375.oo for it. It was clearer than scopes $500 and more. It has a multi-position eyepiece and 20-60X 60mm Ocular zoom. BaK-4 Prisms and a retractable sunshade for those really bright days.
After trying six different scopes I chose this one for the clarity and the price.

I have the Bushnell Spacemaster as well. Great scope. The rubber armour coating is a must. I have had this scope for about 5 years now. I initially bought it when I still lived in BC and used it for glassing across valley's up in the mountains. It has taken an absolute beating from falls and getting knocked over and such, but it still is crisp and clear.

i bought a boaush and lomb elite this summer. was about $600 and had no problems with it this fall. used it for elk huntin, sheep huntin, muleys and it worked really well. clear picture even in the early season heat. eye alignment is straight on so ya don't have to crank ur neck when huntin elk and deer. just raise the tripod if ur huntin sheep.

I've had the bushnell Spacemaster for over 20 years and it's a great scope. It's logged more miles sheep hunting than alot of guys I know  One area I hunt,we can glass the sheep on the grass from a half mile and see if the rams are there instead of walking in there hoping they'll be there.
