Hey guys need some ideas for keeping scores in our club.we will be shooting 18 meter fita targets and since it is not fair for the new shooters to shoot against the older ones was wondering if there is some way to do it with out making the newer shooters not get dissappointed if they are not shooting as high as some others. we are looking for some kind of way to score towards trophies at the end of the shooting year.
Any help would be great thanks

Hey Travis,
Why not just run a handicapping system? You could base the handicap on one night's shooting (say three rounds) and then readjust it periodically.
I have a spreadsheet that can do this, but you have to understand how it was built and change the formulas yourself (only once though). If you want it, let me know.

Hi Taxman, if you could send me that spreadsheet that would be great. I shoot in the same club as Trav and I know who will be setting up the spreadsheet anyway. olong@mdprovost.ca
Thanks.

 inquiring to your scorring system-- how does a handicap system work -- taking your average of the rounds and subtracting that from your round score???

Missed this.....sorry.
As explained to me, I took the average of three rounds and subtracted that from 300. I took 80% of that amount and added it to your weekly shoot (can't remember if I capped it at 300 or not). I re-averaged after 5 and 10 rounds as well and re-handicapped.
This helped lesser shooters (like myself) compare with the big boys.
