Hey I Was At The Shoot!!!!

Wow................have things changed in the Archery World. The Last Time I shot in a
Archery Shoot was The Nationals back some 25 years ago, held at Lake Eden by the Glory Hills Archery Club. There was over 90 archers in my class,(Fingers-Compound Bow-Pins) and at this shoot, I was the only one in my class.

It was more important to have sights-releases-stabilizers-scopes-peep sights, and on and on in other categories at this shoot. So, Next time you are heading to a Archery Shoot......you better check the classes being represented.

I shot the one course,(Not sure if it was C or D)
but shot it in 25 minutes at 32 or 33 degrees C., and shot a 140 score. Now That Was Fun!!! You had 3 seconds to shoot when you stood by the Marker at all targets. Scotty must have lost 10 pounds that round................loll.

To all the folks I met at the shoot,............Thanks for all the hospitality. And Good Luck in future competition. For me, I just don't have the time or desire to shoot a bow these days with anything more then a Good Bow and some Straight Arrows. When I learn how to shoot as an Archer...........Instead of being a Target Shooter.............It was like fishing......."Different Strokes for Different Folks". I was in a class that had more hunters then target shooters. And the playing field was much more Prestige to shoot in my class.

The only down fall of the shoot........was having to shoot a black bear cub target on one of the courses layed out in the valley along the Old Man River. I did not shoot the cub target....I took A zero on my score.............Trophy Hunters Don't Shoot Cubs-Fawns-Pups.

Anyways......Thanks Scotty and Jill for A Great Time At The Rodeo!!!!!!!!.

The Best Part Of The Shoot ........................was Seeing all the new kids participating in the shoot and medals.

Next Shoot I go to, is a Turkey Shoot.........Beer-Barbecue-Music-Cash Prizes.
And No trigger releases-No Scopes-No Peep Sights-No Stabilizers. Old Time Shooting............When Men Were Men and Your Skill Was Appreciated More by all.

Fly Low......... Shoot Fast........Tell No Lies...........

Your right,

things have changed, since i started bowhunting and participating in 3ds almost 30 years ago i cant beleive the changes. But unlike some others i have come to see that 3d is a target thing and in my opinion is not hunting practice.
Dictating what kind of equipment is used and judging abilities on what a person shoots is quite bold i think.
I totally agree that its great to see so many youngsters in the sport and even better to see them participating with their parents, family values can only grow with this kind of activity.

Anyway its a good thing my first hunting partner (who shot fingers, release, pins, no pins, just however he felt at the time) didnt admonish me for using a release and a twelve inch stabilizer or i would have quit years ago.

Good luck at the turkey shoot and hope to see you at more shoots in the future, its our chance to mentor the kids and help them with whatever equipment that they are comfortable with.

Cheers
