Hi Everyone,

I am a new archer and this is my first post to this forum.

I have had some practice on a recurve bow but I have decided to purchase a compound as my first bow.
I am awaiting delivery of a PSE Dakota bow. I think it will make a good entry level bow.

My interest is strickly target archery. I have no interest in hunting.

I want to ask about arrow rests. (I'm sure as a new archer I will be hard enough on arrows without the agony of killing flechings unnecessarily.)

Can anyone suggest an arrow rests? I thought about whisker biscuits. Also the Quicktune 1000 or 3000...........

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

For a target rest I use the GKF Infinity.

Awsome rest and easy to adjust.

The quicktunes are actually pretty good rests for target as well.

I use Quicktune 1000 because it was the only rest that had a reasonable price and came with a Lizard Tongue! If you think you will be fine tuning your bow yourself and you are looking for the best rest to tune to prescision then Quicktune 3000 has all the prescision tuning you will need!

I also enjoyed the Drop away rest! I think those are the best because they leave your arrow in mid air when it's going forward! I had a Trap Door and it was GREAT! Never let me down.

I do not recomend Buiscuit rest unless you are gonna be hunting and dont want your arrow to fall off the rest!

If you are intending to do serious competition, then you want a rest with the least amoutn of moving parts! More moving parts = more problems when they break!

You definatly want to buy something that is reliable!

Good luck :)

thanks guys

I will do some more research and take your suggestions into consideration.

As it stands I'm leaning towards the NAP Quicktune 3000!

One more question pertaining to sights......

Are all Sight Pins created equal???

If you're only target shooting, you want to get a scope instead. Something along this (http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Toxonic-Archery-Sights-and-Bow-Stabilizer_W0QQitemZ230024111339QQihZ013QQcategory Z36101QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) line. It sticks way out in front and every inch out is just another level of precision higher.

when i was shooting my mq32 i had the cobra with the 1 pin. It had an arm that was adjustable from the back with a little paper and pin. i would write 10m 15m 20 m ect .. it also had a light for those low light areas.

this one :

Cobra Electra Slide

You can see it on my mq32 here : http://forum.bowzone.ca/gallery/showimage.php?i=2917&c=31

i loved it! easy to use! 1 pin. If your not hunting this will be the best since if your shooting 3d you can just adjust it to the distance you need! :) or target also!

Mine was sort of different and i had a light on the ring. There are probably a couple of diferent versions.

I have a Sure loc with a scope and i am having alot of difficulty getting used to it. the magnification is weird. I would suggest you try it before you go out and spend 500$ on a kit! Some of these cobra sights can also house a Scope. So you might want to look into a 2 in 1 deal!

Good luck

Take a good look at the GKF TKO rest .... or... I like the Trophy taker Spring steel rest for target ... I just bought my wife one for her bow .... I might buy me one ...

For sights ... You cant go wrong with a Sureloc .... but if you want real variety look at the Trophy Ridge line of sights .... The Titan V-drive is a single pin sight ...can be out fitted with a lense if ya want .... real solidly built rest .....

On my Hunting bow I just put the Trophy Ridge Rhino V-drive sight on .... 4 down pins that are set distances and a single up pin for long shots ...... the housing accomidates a lense if you want .... and all pins move with the V-drive ..... its an awesome sight that is solidly built

Click the trophy ridge link in my sig line ...for more info
