Going to Canada...

I am going to work in Canada (Gaspé) for the next half year, and want to do some indoor target shooting in my spare time to improve my skills.

Can anybody help me with some basic information? I have searched the internet, but can´t find any specific information. Questions may sound silly, but :boohoo:

1) can I bring with me my bow (AR37) etc. without any problems? It shouldn´t be considered a weapon in Canada as far as i can see, but i really want to be sure.

2) does anybody know, if there are some archers/organization in Gaspé.

3) i never tried bowhunting before - is this possible? Legislation/certificates? Season? At least, if there is any bowhunters in the region, i would like to get in contact with them. I have absolutely no experience in hunting or 3d, so....

4) probably a lot of other questions, but...

Hope for some replies, i am leaving in a couple of weeks. I really look forward to my stay - never been in Canada before.

Bow across any border is no problem .... a bow is sporting equip ...not a weapon ....

A non resident Alien license is easy to come by ... but I am almost 100% certain that you must enlist the services of a guide ....

Sounds great, thanks. Just wanted to be sure. I read that some places archery was only allowed outside city-limits, but i guess this only goes for bowhunting.

some city bylaws dont allow outdoor shooting inside city limits .....if ya dont get caught then it aint illegal ....

That shop should be able to hook ya up with a local club ..... etc ...

You will see Clubs affiliés. You should find something close to you in there! If not, one of those sites will lead you to something close to you thats for sure!
