I have noticed that we have a very small amount of women as members of bowzone. I think 10 or so. So, for the ladies that lurk here....would you use a Woman's Bow Hunting forum if we were to set it up and would one of you be willing to moderate said forum?
Please reply here with your thoughts.

Although I like the idea of a seperate forum for women,my personal thought is that they really don't work.Several of the sites I visit do have a womens forum and they are usually either inacctive or used to exchange pictures of family or tales of vacations and such.Topics of which are not related to hunting in anyway.I feel you create a better group of people when you don't seperate them into gender. Some women are still under the impression that men don't want them invovlved in thier bowhunting activities and just tolerate them because they are around, seperating them would just re-inforce these believes to them.
I have learned so much from visiting sites where everyone posts together and virtually nothing from womens forums.
Good luck on whatever you decide.

Point taken Pinkarrow. What I don't understand is why you rarely see women post in the regular forums and more often in the "women's only" forums. I would rather not segregate them either, and that wasn't the point of the woman's bow hunting forum (hope you didn't think that).
What do you think would help bring women into this forum vs. other forums out there?
Thoughts??

Just as a first thought.why not start by taking our suggestions seriously. There are a lot of women out there who are very knowledgeable about bows and hunting in general.I myself have been hunting for 25+ years.I do know what I am talking about when I have input in a conversation. I am not saying that this happens here,it is just a general obervation.I take criticisim well and am not offended when someone disagrees, but I do not like to be told i don't know what I am talking about or ignored because I am a woman.
When I go hunting with the guys I am treated equal and am expected to pull my own weight in all situations and I think on the forums these same rules should apply.
To try and get more women to participate is a hard thing to do.Most of the women I know are worried they will ask the wrong question or say the wrong thing and are scared to step in and speak up.This is something that will take a long time for them to overcome as it is not a problem that can be fixed overnight. You could start by trying to get the women you know to post up more often .If anyone belongs to a league or club where women shoot you could maybe let them know these forums are here for them as well.
The women I have run across at most club events are just into target shoots and think the forums are mostly about hunting so you could stress that hunting is only a part of this site and that there is a lot of info and target shooters here as well.
Hope this helps some sorry to be so long winded.

To bad more women dont hunt! I'm all for it . I'll be teaching my daughter when she get a little older, she's only 3 now. She did ask for a fishing rod which is a good sign she may be an outdoors woman.

I'm all for taking knowlegable people seriously and I don't think there should be a gender gap. Women are just as important to this sport as men are.
We heavily moderate this board, as you know Pinkarrow, so I don't think that we will have the problem of people flaming posters...and if we do, they will be dealt with swiftly.
Thanks a ton for your input Pinkarrow. Could you pass this site on to your friends and get some more of them on? That would be great! :D
