View Full Version : Bear Hunt 2006
Well, back from the great outdoors. After some pretty painful exercising, I managed to pick up my wife's bow for a few shots to get ready for the weekend trip. Turns out the only thing I needed practice with was the camera. I didn't spot any bears during my time in the stand. One member of the group did manage to arrow a nice black.
The best part of the weekend was that my wife and baby girl came along, and I made some new friends that I will continue to hunt with in the future. That makes it a successful trip for me. Here is a couple of pics.

congrats on the bear wished I had enough nerve to hunt them lol.
Honestly Jackal, it was more nerve-racking when we were re-stocking the baits before the actual hunt. I felt safe in the stand, (except for nodding off from boredom and almost falling out) but filling the baits, I was on the ground trying to hear twigs snap and watching 360 degrees around me. I do that deer hunting also, but the deer arent coming to eat me.

I hear ya, Joey. One time we were topping off the bait barrels after our evening sit (pitch black). There were about 4 of us standing around and putting the lids back on when we heard this bear within 20 yards of us. No problem - one of us had the backup rifle...except that the one in charge of the rifle took some time to remember that it was him and then some more time to remember which tree he had set it against.
I always tell non-hunters that the thrill of hunting bears is knowing that you have as much chance as they do of getting out alive! Not really true, but I love to see their expressions.

here's my 2006 bear .... shot him with a bowtech defender, easton excel carbons tipped with 100gr sonic heads.
bear was ten yards shot him slightly quartering away the arrow went in on the right side about 10" back and exited through the left front shoulder .... a complete pass through !!!
