Hey Gang,

Confused by regulations yet again.

Could someone explain to be how supplemental licenses work. I want to get a supplemental deer license this year and I would like to get a supplemental black bear as well.

However, I am confused as to how this process works and I don't understand what it means when it says you can buy supplemental tags for a series of WMU's, but then beside that is says the supplemental tags are only valid in a whole different set of WMU's.

Very confused and don't want to make a mistake. I like my guns, my truck, and my hunting privileges. I wouldn't want to loose them because I didn't understand the regs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Skipper I have purchases supplumental doe tags when I can .I think it is when WMU;s have not had enough draw applicants and the tags that are left can be bought .But to be on the safe side I would talk to Fish and Wildlife just to make sure.

Jackal, you're confusing the supplementals with the undersubscribed tags. When you buy the supplemental it says right on the tag what WMU it's good for and what dates it can be used. You can buy the supplemental at the same time as your other tags. Some people have the mistaken idea that you have to use your "regular" tag first then go and buy the second one. Any good sporting goods shop will help you understand the regs when you buy the tags.

Also it you're in Calgary buy your tags from IHEA as they make a little mit of money off them. Dave or the other guys will be happy to help you with your questions.

Thanks All,

I appreciate the clarification.

Happy Hunting.

I am going for my black bear up near swan hills area over easter. A friend of the family has offered to take me.

I am so excited I can barely sleep.

Regards,
