Just curious what is your favorite big game animals to hunt. For the adrenaline rush and skill needed i would have to say elk hunting because there is nothing more exciting then hearing a bugle on opening day for elk. But for shear excitement and intensity i would have to say moose because your going one on one with such a large animal and if all you have is a bow that bow starts to fell really insignificant.

For me its all about elk! Love to spot and stalk other animals in the process but my passion as a hunter is to seek out the elusive elk.

The only big game that I have hunted is Mule deer and Whitetail. Therefore they have to be my favorite.....perhaps this year I will go for moose or Elk with my bow.

I put down bear i tried calling bear last fall and thats a blast couldn`t get a shot at one by calling but i did stalk and shot one at 30 yards. I have shot lots of blacks with a rifle but there is nothing more fun than hunting bear with a bow.
I started hunting elk when I was 10 and I loved it. I finally got my first elk tag last fall. I bowhunted hard for 3 days but were were in a 3 point zone and I had 32 animals within bow range but none legal, I would have gladly shot a cow. The night before rifle season opened our area was flooded with rifle hunters so I grabed my gun and that afternoon I shot my first elk just below the treeline at 85 yards it was 5X5 bull and for a first elk I think it's pretty awsome. Now I'm hooked on elk and I can't wait till next year.

Elk! Elk! Elk!, I harvested my first Bull Elk this year and it was a rush I had never felt before. Also Bow hunting for Elk during the rut has to be hands down one of the best things I can think of. 2nd for me is the good old Whitetail.

I likely spend almost as much time hunting black bear spot and stalk as I do blacktail. Something about the adrenalin rush with bears, love it! Fave meat to eat is definitely caribou though. I yearn to go back up north again, it's so amazing, maybe musk oxen and 'bou next time ......

Speaking about ELK......I have been hunting around the Elk River area the last few years and I have not nailed the heavy rut. (Late Aug. and Mid Sept.) Has anyone hunted this area in the past and hit the rut peak? If so when was it?

Here in Ontario we don't get to hunt elk or antelope or Mule deer, although I did live in Alberta for 2 years a while back and hunted Mulies. I would have to pick black bears as my favorite game animal. There is nothing like the feeling I get when sitting 10 yards from a bait with one of the top North American predators feeding happily there.

No doubt it HAS to be moose , i mean they are bigger and man when they are in the rut , AMAZING
it's amazing how close you can get to one because they don't have good vision , like elk do
I've talked to people about this before and elk tend to respond more to the calls so it's easier to spot them or at least have an idea of where they are at.
The bull moose doesn't respond back often like the females do ,so other then fresh tracks or scraps , it's hard to know were the big boy is hidding.
,most of the time , all you will hear are trees breaking and then he's on you, ,, you can hear him breath ,,
When that big rack is running towards you in the thick brush ,, believe you me , all that noise makes your heart POUND :D

I was lucky enough to take a 5x5 Elk on opening morning 2 years ago; took 10 years to finally get one, but it was worth the wait. I still yearn to hunt Elk, but this year I'm gonna try to concentrate on Moose up in the Fox Creek area for a week or so, then back to Muleys and Elk in Southern Alberta.
Oh, if only everyday was hunting season.....

I would have to say moose. To be hunting such a large animal can be very intimidating to most. Especially if your lucky enough to get close enough to really see how big a moose is.

Elk for sure. Highly intelligent, impressive looking and mighty tastey....

Currently sheep, as I've never shot a ram, (have taken a few ewes), but that's with the rifle.
With the bow - elk for sure, nothing like having a bull come in screaming and hanging a licking on a tree right in front of you!

I put down Sheep Just love the Mountains! Elk is the best tasting of all wild game at least to me with a fat lazy Mule deer as second but getting harder to find the lazy fat Muley's as my rancher friend wife is now chasing them out of her Garden. She told me I wont have them eating my green beans anymore you will have to go to the trout pond and get one lol.She put up a electric fence around her garden to keep out the Mule Deer. She watches her land like a Hawk and will always tell me were the big ones are.
Maybe I will bump a big fat Mule Deer to number one over Sheep as they taste so good the Whitetail from the same Ranch do not taste as good.

White tails because I spend most of my time doing it, however there is no thrill like a moose up close and personal. Bear are fun as well but what ever I am after I love the stalk:super_hap

I have a thing for bears!! Jim took me out for my first bear hunt (he still laughs!) I almost jumped out of my tree stand they came right under me. Since then I go into the bush with nothing but my camera and I can sit there for hours watching bears. But I also love elk hunting. Those two are close together.

I really just like getting out to hunt or fish any day all day. I have to agree something about the way the screaming bugle of a big bull elk makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, and you think that he will actually hear your heart as it pounds in your chest as he gets into bow range! What a RUSH!!!:bounce:

tough to pick just one...............Sheep is at the top, however since my 2 boys are now old enough to hunt , chasing deer with them is now way up there. Just to get out there is good enough for me:D

Gotta be moose. I spend all year waiting for archery moose camp. I think if I ever got off my butt and went for elk and bugled one in then it might be a tough choice, but for now nothing beats the rush of calling a bull moose out and slipping an arrow into him.

Got to be Bears and Elk! we set our bear stands 12 and 12, 12 yards away and 12 feet up a tree and when you get a bear within ten yards holding nothing but a stick and string you get a rush like no other. The only thing that comes close is a screaming bull elk that is coming at you for one reason alone which is to fight. Definantly gets all them little hairs on your neck standing straight up and down.
