I am getting a Hoyt Supertec here in the next little while and I was wondering what formula I would use to calculate the IBO speed of this bow based on my draw length of 26 1/2 inches?
Any idea?

Try www.bowjackson.com they have speed and KE calculators on their site. I know there is a rough formula for IBO calculations on a shorter than 30" draw length. I just can't remember what it is or where I seen it. :bash:
Warden, If you give me the draw weight and your exact arrow specs. with that draw length. I can run it through the archery program tonight when I get home and tell you how fast she'll shoot. I need to know the brand of arrow, fletching length, point weight and arrow shaft length. We just got a SuperTec in the shop yesterday and I had it at home playing with it this morning. Nice bow to be sure your gonna love it.

I have that software as well...The Archery Program is the best out there that I have found....
I was hoping to get a rough # with out having to measure my arrow specs.....Oh well...I will look on Bow jackson and see if I can find something.
Thanks guys.
Warden, Maybe I'm not tracking with ya right, but I punched in a 70lb. SuperTec at 26.5" draw length shooting a 27" 350 grain arrow. And TAP spit out 270 fps. Is that what you were looking for?

Ok, IBO speeds are based on arrows weighing 350 grains and a 30 inch draw at 70 lbs. So roughly..you loose 10 feet per second per inch of draw length.
So, given that....The IBO speed on the Supertec is 330 fps.
So, if I remove 10 fps per inch of draw.....My IBO speed on the Supertec at 70 lbs would be : 295 fps or there abouts.

Yeah, but the kids bows you shoot usually max out at 40 lbs. :D

Hey Warden:
We have two Supertech around here and I have set up both of them.
One is a 28" draw and the other a 29". The IBO speeds that we are getting with them is 323 fps @ 28" and 329 fps @ 29".
Ask and I will tell you some of the secrets to improving the speed on the Supertech.
I figure that with a 26.5 " draw and 350 gr. arrows (or 5 gr/lb of draw weight , 200 gr for 40lbs) you should be able to crack to 300 fps barrier!!!!!

Don't forget that the rated speed of 330 is with nothing on the string!!Rarely do we see a bow dressed out to shoot , meet the IBO advertised speeds. Then discount the loss for the shorter draw length, noc's. silencers, peep and arow weight over 350 Grains.
I don't think there is an "IBO speed" for your setup.
IBO rates are for 70# 30"draw 350 grain arrow. It's just an even playing field for manufacturers to all use the same formula.Often the manufacturers have been known to stretch the truth by having a longer draw length than what the module or settings indicate . Some 30" modules are actualy giving a 31" draw length.just to help sales a bit.
