I have a landowner that is literally begging for guys with antlerless tags to come shoot some deer off her land. Several hundred whitetails and mulies in one section of hay every day.

Anybody else have tags? Mine are all filled.

I don't have any special licenses this year... is there a general season in this zone for either species?

Its rifle, they prefer not to have bowhunters on there as there are a couple other guys with rifles who have permission, its a saftey thing.

Grunter, the general W/T tag is valid out there for a buck, there are some nice bucks around thats where we shot that 140 last weekend. I'm lookin for a partner for tomorrow if either of you fellas are interested in going.

sorry Chris ... My doe draw is 110 and my general tag is filled .... Mulies are draw only for that zone.

I dont think there was any undersubscribed tags for that zone either

No there wern't, which boggles my mind, because it is wall to wall deer, the landowners are screaming to have them shot off, people are giving out permission like candy on Halloween, and they won't give us any more tags, some guys who applied wern't even succesful in the draws, plus we can only 3 days/week as opposed to 6. It makes no sense. 151 right next door had undersubscribed, and not even close to the same population of deer. I don't get it. This isn't the first year this zone has had this problem either. Lots of lanowners have been upset with the over abundance of deer for a long time, and the government is doing very little about it. Hwy 550 CONSTANTLY has road kills, as does 36, crop insurance claims are quite high due to deer, you can't drive a mile without seeing half a dozen deer at any given time of day, what more do they need?

I wish I could go! I had the next two days booked for a hunt and those plans changed on me last weekend when I found out I had to be at a seminar this Fri/Sat...

I haven't shot my rifle in two years and don't think it would be a smart move to just start slinging bullets without making sure my zero is still where it should be (although it probably is since it is a synth stock w/ stainless barrel.) Thanks for the offer though!

The several hundred deer in that hay field Chris was talking about never showed for us. We did see a bunch of deer all the same, Chris bagged a Mulie doe, I missed a late, last minute of daylight long shot at my WT buck :( but we had fun all the same. Hopefully I can get out again next Thursday and make amends, after I hit the range again to make sure I've got everything zeroed and that Whitetailer didn't frig with my scope, LOL :moon: . Come to think of it, maybe you should join me Whitetailer, you know what I'm talking about too :D Anyways, congrats on a nice fat doe and a limit of ditch parrots. Thanks for bringing me along.

Better go try again on the 25th guys. Whitetailer hasn't stayed home long enough to shower since August 15. His wife has him booked in for the 23rd. Probably caught your scent. Hell, I caught his scent! LOL
Good luck anyways.
