MONT-LAURIER, Que. -- A hunting guide is in hospital in Montreal after being shot when one of the three hunters he was with mistook him for a moose.
Quebec provincial police say the 59-year-old from Des Ruisseaux, Que., was making moose calls with two of the hunters.
Police say a third hunter shot him in the stomach Tuesday evening near this town in western Quebec.
Police spokesman Melanie Larouche says the victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police don't believe the shooter, a 34-year-old man, intended to fire at the guide. But Larouche says police are investigating whether criminal negligence charges should be laid.
