SUNDRE -- Police say conservation officers have found a body believed to be that of a missing hunter.
Const. Jim Lank of Sundre RCMP says it's believed the body is that of Tom Howell, who had been hunting for bighorn sheep in the Limestone Mountain area.
Howell, 47, of Caroline, was hunting in the area as of Sept. 11 and did not show up for work on Sept. 18 in Fort McMurray.
Lank says a team of conservation officers from Kananaskis County found the body yesterday morning at an elevation of 6,000 metres in a small snow-covered drainage system.
He says the body and a backpack was found about one kilometre from where Howell's quad was found at a lower level on the mountain.
Police say it appears Howell fell off a cliff ledge, adding the terrain is rocky and steep and snow and ice may have contributed to the fall.
