Being from Manitoba and not having a chance to chase mule deer, how do they compare when it comes to trying to put your tag on one?are they easyer to pattern, stalk or call in do they seem as smart and wherry and how does the meat compare to that of a whitetail.of course since we are on BOWZONE i'm referring to chasing them will stick-n-string hopefully someday soon i'll have a chance to go after them.....paul

Mulies are dumb lol. Usually you can stalk them pretty easily to within bow range. I find they taste like crap myself.

true some of the small mulies are dumb but the big ones are far from it. They don't get big by being stupid. There not bad in the pan if ya cook em right but i like whitetails better for eating to.

I find mulies are like white-tails, some are dumb as fence posts, and some are scary smart. Patterning them while it does work, its not as consistant as white-tails. They will tend to use ridges, draws, etc, but not on any given trail. I find stalking them to work the best, second to that, I go with still hunting areas that I know hold bucks. For taste, I have had some great mulies, but I will tip my hat and say, I would consistantly say white-tail tastes better. I hunt mulies more than I hunt any two species, I find them extremly fun to chase, and are definatly my favorite.

I would not call mulies dumb different from whitetails they are not nocternal like a whitetail so you see them more. Whitetails where close to wiped out by pit lamping shine a light in there eyes and they will stand there not to smart. Mule deer don`t do that. As far as eating they are a browser eating buds so they don`t taste as good as a whitey as for a trophy i think there a nicer looking deer.

when was the last time you pounded a mulie????

they can be tough to stalk ..... as they bed typically where there is not much cover, ...in my exp the best way to hunt Mule deer is to find cover near a food source and wait for them to come to you.....

Cook em right they taste great .....

That being said I am having WT backstraps tonite
