With the exception of the backstop, it's almost a perfect shot with a rifle.
Just a little concerned about where the bullet will end up.

How far will this goat fall when I blow it's shoulder apart. If it's on a cliff...I ain't going all the way down to the bottom to pick up a pile of jello and busted horns.
I think I'll pass on the shot.

Never having had the opportuntity to see let alone hunt one of these, I'd assume the following:
1) No one anywhere near where I am hunting, so the backdrop question is virtually moot
2) He's not standing on a cliff where he'd drop to the bottom of the huge hill.
So,
I'd put the crosshairs of my Redfield 2 1/2X scope on his shoulder blade and BAM!
Down he'd go!

I would have to agree with Bowzone. It would be better to pass than to waste a good animal by turning it into spatter at the bottom of a cliff. As for the back drop, one never knows where the bullet will end up if you miss, or pass through. Just my 2 cents.

Take the shot, bust the shoulder,I'd even shoot it in the neck,75 yards is a chip shot for me.I agree with Taxman, back drop is a non issue.I've eaten goat (yuck) and the only reason I'd shoot one is for the head.

If you pass on that shot don`t go goat hunting they are generaly in a worse spot than that its hard to shoot a goat and not have them fall some. There horns are pretty tough and any billy goat i have tried to eat if it was mush that would be a .good thing. That goat wood be dead.

it would fully depend on what he is looking over, if he is looking over a 500' cliff, pass or wait till he turns and gets back 10 yards, and break his sholders, if he is just looking over a little ledge, boom.

Other than the fact that I have zero desire to hunt goat ....cause they taste horrid, but if I were a trophy hunter I would probally pass on this particular animal as I have seen bigger horns.
75 yrds is nothing for a steady rifle .... I too would be concerned about backdrop .....but if I am hunting in that area ...I would know it ....if theres a town at the bottom of hill or not etc.... as he is standing right now pound him in the crik of the armpit closest to and you would take out both lungs and the heart ....drop darn near instantly as the shell exits out back behind the oposite shoulder blade ....easy recovery
all things being equal ..... a perfect scenario

Two more seconds and he should be perfectly broadside to bad for me no goat tag, therefore NO SHOT.

well seeing as i took that picture I can tell ya there is nothing to worry about behind him, and he's gonna fall about 30 feet on either side of the burm he's on. So blast away if ya want him!
Chris
