here in the sault we have the rocky mountain elk foundation east chapter the reintro of these magnificent animals has a few farmers up in flames they have said they are eating their crops and have become a nuissance more than anything.. in my opinion they are roaming these areas in search of food. should they have reintroduced these animals or left things the way they were? I think long term it is a good thing because our children that have never seen an elk before would be great instead of having to travel west to see these great animals . my oldest child has seen pretty much every animal they could see for now .around this area anyway

Well, if it's a bad thing I think you'll find the elk dying off in the winters. If it's a good thing they will eventually end up into habitat where they can find food, cover and safety (away)to breed.

Are those the ones they released a few years back hoping they would perpetuate into a resident herd again. No hunting on them?

yes they were bcbowman actually i think they have released quite a few over the last 3 or 4 yrs . they were released north of iron bridge which is an hour or so to the east of here and a few have been seen here in the sault.they are definately on the move.. they only have one record of one being poached but so far so good i guess. no hunting on them yet.i imagine it will probably be at least 10 yrs or more before they can be hunted
