Just wanted to let you know that I recently purchased the compact 20x50 spotting scope and took it bow hunting for elk with me last week - it is a fantastic little unit! It's my favorite new toy!

Hi Grunter,

I too have had a lot of fun with our little 20x50 model 711 scope. It's small at 7 1/2 inches long and only 11 oz so it doesn't weigh you down or take up much room. It's also water/fog proof and has fully multi coated lenes. This makes it a great value scope since it sells well under $100.

I have found that if you brace your body agenst something like a tree you can hold it in your hands like a pirate monocular and it doesn't shake that much. However it does come with a little tripod that has extendable legs so you have something along with the fanny pack style case to use it with.

Most people buy the 711 scope for bench rest shooting or with sighting in there scope in mind, but because of the size, weight, and brightness of the scope, it's pretty versatile and can be use for many activities.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying yours Grunter. Here is a link to a image of the 711 scope so everyone else knows what we are talking about.
