I have an 93 Yamaha 250. Runs well and pulls the deer out fine. However there is a part in the electrical system (I have no mechanical abilities) that charges the battery and generates power to the lights. I took it to the local ATV shop. They said it needed a regulator. $325.00 and still the same. Now they say I need a stator but I must buy the whole charging system for another $520.00 plus labor with no guarantees and as before the part cannot be returned.
At this time I am running the bike as is and I charge the battery when it goes low and I have a large light if I travel late in the evening. However I thought that I would ask if anyone knew where I might buy a used stator for the bike as I would prefer that it worked properly.

Thanks

Lionel

Lionel. I am parting out a 94 big bear right now. I still have the stator. Give me the model of your quad and I will see if it will fit. If it does, I will set you up at a fair price.

Wookie,

I am still working on this old bike. Since we spoke last there has been quite a soap opera of repair ideas etc. I will not bother you with the sage.
However, If you are still parting out that 94 grizzly, do you still have the voltage regulator. If they use the same part and you have it for sale I would be interested. The part number on mine is 3GC8196.
My bike runs fine but has a problem charging the battery on its own.

Happy new year.

Lionel, I still have it, but they mount in different positions, the regulator/rectifier are the same, but the mounts could be different. My part # is 59V-81960-A0-00 RECTIFIER & REGULATOR ASSY and your P/N is 3GC-81960-00-00 RECTIFIER/REG ASSYREGULATOR ASSY. I am sure you could make it work. I will get a picture of mine and you can compare them.

Hi
Sorry for the delay in reply but I have been away.
The parts do look different. The attachment holes are 2.25 (centers) apart on mine. I also notice yours has 6 wires were mine has only four. I can not see what your connector looks like. I am not a mechanic. I can change something but I have no knowledge of things like this. If you think they are interchangable then I will contact the Yamaha man (from my last experience I am not pleased with this guy) and see what he says.
I have tried to attach a picture of the part I took off.

Lionel you should talk to whomever can help you get a schematic of both yours and Wookie's parts... it is very likly you could just splice (or negate) the extra wires on Wookie's part - if you get the schematics I would be more than happy to review them for you and tell you what is possible. I'm betting that the extra wires are for negative potential/grounding only.

Good call Lonnie. I will have a look at the maintenance manual tonight.
