Thru my extensive testing of Turbo Nocks, I have found that not all dropaway rests are created equal. Some are very much better than others and some are not worth the effort or money to buy them!

Here are some of my results, not everyone will agree with them or my findings; but that’s human nature.

Absolute Worst Dropaway rest award goes to Montana Black Gold for their Original model Trapdoor rest! I owned two of them and they both failed within a year. The internal workings fell apart. I will hand it to MBG, their warranty was as good as they say! I had the rests replaced free of charge. I sold them Immediately to a person that thought they were a great product.

Then I tried a TigerTuff Dropaway rest. I found it to be a pretty fair rest. I did have to do some modifications on the prongs to help get adequate clearance for my Turbo Nocks, but that is acceptable. It was a very inexpensive rest with moderately high quality. For someone with a tight budget it would be worth buying.

Next I tried a Trophy Taker Original Fallaway rest. It was a decent enough design, though I did have quite a few timing issues with it. The Trophy Taker rest is very good quality rest and is backed by Trophy Taker’s warranty. It was not even close to being a rest that I would choose to permanently attach to one of my bows. I would choose my old TigerTuff dropaway rest over it.

Then I went to using a NAP QuickTune 2000. It was a very good quality rest with Micro-adjustments for tuning. I had a little bit of trouble with this rest due to it not dropping properly. It seemed to be slow in dropping sometimes and it would not happen with enough regularity to find the problem. This would be a fair rest for someone that doesn’t shoot as many arrows as I do during a practice session; but I don’t think I would suggest it for a Competition shooter.

My next rest was a Golden Key Futura Mirage. Now here is a rest that is designed with the hunter in mind and it seems to me to be a perfect rest for use with Turbo Nocks. I have put literally thousands of arrows thru this rest with not a single problem. The rest drops flawlessly. This is My Number One Pick of a Rest for a Hunter. I highly recommend it!

My next rest was a Golden Key Futura TKO Dropaway rest. GKF made another real winner here! The TKO performs every bit as good as the Mirage. This would be a very excellent choice of a rest for either a hunter or a Target Shooter. Another Highly Recommended Rest!

Just when I thought I had tried the Cream of the Crop, I got my hands on another Golden Key Futura dropaway rest. Now I have the GKF Powerdrop rest to tets. I have found the Powerdrop is not for all bows, it would not work with my PSE Mach-11 target bow due to the very high brace height. So I installed it on my PSE GForce bow. My findings with this rest are more impressive than with the Mirage and the TKO. Not only does it work flawlessly, but it is absolutely quiet and it dampens the noise of the bow string. A definite Plus. The Turbo Nocks fly out of it perfectly. I highly Recommend this rest to anyone!

Months ago I tried a different style of rest, it was a Whisker Bisquit. It worked quite well for use with Turbo Nocks. It was simple to setup and adjust. I had very good results with this rest and I do Recommend it.

Recently, I have also been testing a Golden Key Futura Funnel Rest with Turbo Nocks. Here is another Very High Quality Rest that works extremely well with the Turbo Nocks. I Highly Recommend this rest. In fact I think that the archer that tries it against a Whisker Bisquit, will pick the Funnel Rest!

There seems to be a little buzzing going around the net that Golden Key Futura is coming out with two new rests; One will be a Dropaway and the other will be in the category of the Whisker Bisquit and the Funnel rests. So please keep your eyes and ears open. If I manage to get my hands on them, I will be testing them and then posting a review in this forum.
