Hi, I've been interested in archery for a while, so I went out this weekend and bought a Longbow (since I think they look better and I wouldn't really consider a compound bow an actual bow much).

The bow I bought is the Bear Montana Long Bow, good or bad for a beginner?

Whats the best way to improve my aim? I can't even hit a target 10 meters away.

Is there any disadvantages to using a longbow?

Thanks a bunch =)

Instinctive shooting is like throwing a rock.It takes practice. What draw weight did you get? what arrows? What is your draw length?
Are you using a glove or tab?are you shooting split finger or 3 under?
The bow make is not an issue starting out.The big thing is not to be over bowed.Try to be consistantwith every draw and release.
Best bet is find someone near you that shoots trad, and get some help starting out.Look for a local trad club.

Pete,said it all.
The only extra caution would be to read"Become the arrow by Byron Ferguson or Instinctive shooting by Fred Asbell.
TRad shooting is an art that you have to learn and master. PRACTICING with the proper info and you will be hooked for ever.
