Just finished up a new lam deflex 68 inch longbow, almost. I did all the lams and tapers out of Ash, myself, this time and was concerned that the bow would come in a bit light. So, I added an extra lam and it came in at a whopping 70 lbs. Ouch, way too heavy for me. So I worked at it a bit and got it down to about 65 lbs at 28", not too bad. A padouck riser, and a lot of sanding and I got myself a pretty good looking bow, if I do say so myself. Just goes to show; I was ready to scrap it because it was way to heavy for me, but I kept at it and the work paid off. Now just got to spray it and it'll look good. Still too heavy for me at 65 lbs., but I'm sure I have someone that'll be able to use it. Perhaps my son when he gets back into shooting after university.
