Holy crap boys, the moose were out Sunday! I saw 18 moose...14 were cows and calves but there were a couple of real respectable bulls. I've got my moose tag but not for the areas that I saw all the moose. I was looking for elk and deer. The snow is so deep in my part of Alberta I decided to put my bow down and pick up the 300 magnum to try to fill my tags. The snow was so deep it made walking next to impossible. I gave up after an hour of trying. Jumped in the truck and drove in the mountains for the rest of the day to see what was around. All in all we saw the 18 moose, 6 elk (cows & calves) and around 15 deer or so , a few bucks but no shooters. Oh well ,I still have til the end of the month to fill the tags, the best is yet to come . Hopefully the snow will drop so I can get in the woods.

I ended up getting really stuck on Saturday night coming out of the bush. I had to walk out about two miles to the nearest road and then a mile to the nearest farm and let me tell you, my legs were damn sore. They were cramping all through Saturday night. It took six hours of digging to get out on Sunday.. What a weekend. Way to much snow here.

Well guys the snow worked in my favour. On Monday I was out on a buddies piece of land hunting a big whitetail that was frequenting his hay field. Turns out the 2 feet of snow caused the elk to come out and rip into the hay stacks. First night out and 15 elk (cows and calves) came down and started fighting over the hay. At last light just when I was about to call it because of the cold I see the horns of a bull climbing out of a draw. When it was all said and done a nice 5x5 was down 7 yards from where I hit him. Too bad it was 165gr partition and not a 100gr Wasp that did the damage.

 sounds like everyone was having a good time. I just got back from acerage and was doing a bit of hunting but to no avail. Saw lots of moose, elk, mule and whitetail deer but never took anything but with all the scraps and such it sure was nice to see those whitetails comming with in 15 yards of me and my boys. Also spotted some moose(swampdonkeys) and watched them butt heads for a bit. The mulies were nice with incredible racks but I was not drawn for them this year.
Anyway its back to work and I will be back on that ridge again. the only thing that really bothered me were some trucks that ended up driving through the alpha fields while I was rattling in the bucks and I you didn't know it, someone shot that buck on its way from off the road.
Catch u all later
