Hi all. I have a Bear Whitetail 2 compound bow.I've been using it for a couple of years and I'm happy with it.
However, this past month I suffered a rib injury, just in time for deer season of course, and I'm having problems now with the 65 pound draw weight.
Does anyone know how to lower the draw weight on this bow?
It has 2 round adjustment discs on a "stirrup" mounted close to each axle.
These discs have 5 slots of varying depths in them.
The cables are in the "A" slot which is the shallowest making the cables as short as is possible.
The other 4 slots get progressively deeper which would lengthen the cables.
Would putting the cables in the deeper slots effectively lengthening the cables increase or decrease the draw weight?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

it is not a whitetail 2............but any way..........the "disk" nearest the string is the lowest weight....for every hole inward it increases the weight by about 4-5 lbs..............old bow around 77-79 whitetail hunter

Thanks for the response.
I know my description is sorely lacking but it IS a Whitetail 2.
I am familiar with the Whitetail Hunter you mention as my father still shoots his.
Mine says Whitetail II on both limbs.
Anyways, so what you are getting at is that on a compound bow, when you SHORTEN the cables (not the bow string) you are increasing the draw weight? Is that how it works?
Therefore I should be able to lengthen the cables by putting them in the deeper slots of the discs and that should lighten the draw weight right?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I have to jump in here and mess things up.

I also have a Bear Whitetail II and the disks on the cable are not for draw weight adjustment. They will afect the cable length and can be used to fine tune the cam timing and draw length.

To adjust the draw weight you would need to back out on the limb bolts. Make sure that the tiller is even and then back out the limbolt equally. I don't remeber exactly, but I think you can come out about 5 full turns from the bottomed out postion and that should bring you down about 10lbs from the maximum setting.

Thanks Targetnut! Backing out the limb bolts 4 turns dropped the weight almost 10 pounds and now I can shoot my bow again!
Thanks alot.
