My 9yr old son shoots a PSE Outlaw maxed out about 22lbs he was using Easton 1614 alun with 55gr tip..ok for up to 20yards but I think they are to heavy for him...I just bought him Falcon youths with 65 gr tips....his draw is 19 1/2 & was shooting 25in arrows. Someone suggested I make his arrows a little longer..will this work better.I don't want to spend too much money on this bow because I plan on buying him the Alpine Micro for x-mas..but he really wants to chicken hunt this fall.

You could have him shoot the falcons full length, I have one boy shooting them full length from a Browning Micro Midas 2. They shoot great for him, I also have a 7 year old shooting Lightnings from a Micro Midas 2 and they shoot great as well. At 22 lbs. I would lean toward the full length falcons.
