hey guys

I am new to archery and need info please! I have a old bear kodiak hunter.

It is 60" 43# recurve and I really love shooting it.I want to bow hunt and think
it will do okay for now. Going to ask the same old question all newbies do
(sorry) If you have a long bow and a recurve same lb say 65# and have
same #shafts, points, ect. will speed, acceracy and range be the same??
(sorry for spelling, not good typer either first time on comp.)Thank you
in advance, and thanks for any info you could give on hunting with my bear!

Probably not. The performance of each bow will be different. If the arrows fly straight out of both then you are lucky... very very lucky - you can use the same arrows.

First, the amount you practice will determine the proficiency.
Second, a recurve is generally faster because of the recurve limbs.
Most trick shooters use a longbow because it's easier to shoot.
After that, it's personal preferance. I like the longbow due to a smoother, less stacking draw.

In days gone by the recurve would be faster, but today the longbows and recurves are on a level field. Many top longbows today outperform many modern recurves.
