Just bought a Sherwood longbow and have a few cedar arrows that came with the package. Would like to know where to purchase reasonably priced arrows. I live in Ontario and am new to archery. The few sporting stores I have visited have had very little to choose from and what they had was very expensive. The staff at these places were not always very knowledgeable in the products available in their shops. My bow draws 55 pounds at 28" so I need arrows that are able to handle the stress. Also, there seems to be a lot of folks shooting carbon and aluminum arrows so if anyone could tell me the pros and cons of each type that would be appreciated too. Thank you in advance!

Well first off welcome. I shoot recurve my self ,and am just new to recurve from compound. I would recomend Carbons, reason one. they will stand up better than Wood or aluminim ( Can,t spell). Aluminum will bend or break if you hit hard ground or a Tree. Wood wil shatter If you hit rock or a tree with a Glance shot. I have bounced Carbons off rocks, trees, double bounce of trees, and Im still shooting them. I would recomend , Goldtip 3555's or Goldtip Tradtional 3555's they are 8.4 Grs per In ,or Vapor Blackhawk Carbon wood 3000's they are 9 or gr per in. You will have to spine them for your Bow though , the same as wood or Alu.

Check with Herb haines,in NB.

I shoot carbons for durability and straightness.Wood are hard to keep straight.
With the carbons I use the 100 grain brass inserts and 5/16 points.
Spine will depend on your draw length and point weight.
I use heavy points 175 GR and broadheads up to 215 gr.
You will probably be good with the Easton Epic shafts in 500 spine with a short draw length and 400 spine with anything over 28" draw.
I Use 5" shield cut fletch also with as much helical as I can get.
