Hi everyone -- I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to read the info on the 3 SRD proposals we have been circulating and then filling out a questionnaire.
For every questionnaire I got that had an email address, I put those addresses into a "list" so I could send you updates, etc.

I did up a report on the Apr 28th meeting with SRD and the other stakeholders of the Game Mgt Advisory Group. Go to our website www.bowhunters.ca for that report - it is on the front page under SRD. If you have any comments or questions let me know.

Survey results are:
Proposal #1 - standard start date for archery season FOR 474 AGAINST 26

Proposal #2 - crossbows in the archery season FOR 20 AGAINST 496

Proposal #3 - muzzleloader season FOR 73 AGAINST 428

Total surveys -- 516 (if the above don't quite add up, some people had no opinion on one or another of the proposals). All were delivered to SRD at the meeting. Sends a clear message thus far but we still want to collect surveys throughout the year. SRD will tell us at our next meeting in Dec what their decision will be. We have 7 months to make sure they get feedback from the bowhunting community and make the RIGHT decision. I am asking that everyone who filled out a questionnaire to get 2 friends to do the same - that would mean another 1000 surveys to SRD. We will pass them out at 3D shoots, in archery shops, at our booth at HUNT FEST, on the web forums, in our newsletter. This is our chance - and it may be the only one we get - to make our thoughts known and to ensure we are heard. I believe we have solid arguments, genuine concerns and we will do our best.

On another note, I checked all the surveys to see how many were from ABA members. Turned out roughly half were members and that is good in a sense at it shows me, SRD, other stakeholders that this just is not the ABA, it's president that think the same on these issues. It is the general Alberta bowhunter.
On the flip side though, we would like all those non-members to join us to make our voice stronger, ensure we get the attention we are seeking and deserve on these issues. A one year membership costs $35 - the price of a large pizza, 1/2 a tank of gas in your truck, 3 packs of cigarettes for those who smoke, ONE tag this fall. $35 seems a small price to pay to ensure YOUR bowhunting opportunities are not threatened. You can join on our website or I can send you an application by email. Hope to hear from you.

Make sure the questionaires are filled out with complete address, are legiable. There is a bunch that had no city/town or I could not make out their writing at all.

If you do not want to be on this email list just let me know and I'll take you off.
