I have been geting my feet wet this past winter, and so far I am feeling good about the results.
Each bow gives me more confidence, and enjoyment.
Here are some shots of what I have been able to do lately. They all turned out to shoot good, and without the dreaded hand shock I desperately wanted to avoid.
There is lots to learn, but I have been succesfull in making a bow that shoots.

My journey is just starting.

I shoot wood arrows on these. Some things are just meant to be, like apple pie with Icecream, & selfbows and wood arrows.

Hey Pete , they look good......looks like a mild r/d design, which I prefer in a longbow.
Looks like you did a good job.

Great Job Pete This is something I would like to try but I am not much of a wood worker. Put electrical or tile in my hands an I can get it done but wood just doesn't co-operate with me.
That being said did you make these om the 3Rvers type kits or were they from raw staves.I've thought about trying a 3Rivers/rudder bows type stave but I'm scared I may just end up ruining a $150.00 piece of wood:boohoo:
Good job though and maybe one day I will be brave enough to take the plunge.

Thanks for the comments.
A floor tillered stave from Rudderbows is what I started on. Simple and not very expensive to learn the basics on. From there you can make a board bow from maple or red oak, then progress to split staves like these are from.
It is easier than I thought to turn out a not to bad bow.
