I recently had my eyes examined and got new glasses. The Doctor boosted the prescription in my left lens to bring my eyes up to an equal plane.

Now I have a problem that I have never had before! :( When I shoot my bows I keep both eyes open. I acquire the target and use both eyes to help sight the bow.

With my new glasses I am constantly shooting to the left of the bulls eye by about 3 inches. :( With my old glasses I am dead on the X.:)

What the heck is going on? It's like my left eye is trying to become Dominant!:( Has anyone ever had this happen to them before? If so what did you do to cure it?

The only way I can now shoot and still be on target is to close my left eye as I sight on the target. I really don't want to do this because it isn't the most accurate way for me to shoot.

grandpa ,
couple of things are your new glasses progressive bi-focales ? if you are shooting right handed left hand (bow hand extended from shoulder ) you would be looking through left side of lenses and this mess with your shooting. as the prescription in the lenses is like an up side down pyrimid in the lense and you have to look directly straight ahead to see clearly .been fight ing with mine for 2 years . i am Left eye dominate also .i do shoot stick bows and that is a whole different ball of wax compared to a compound .
if you are becoming left eye dominate and this can happen !! when you look at a target with bow drawn and you look down the arrow shaft or are you seeing only the left side of arrow and the point about 2ft to left of target ? that is what i see .don't know if this helps any ------- herb

recurveshooter,
I have always been a right handed shooter and for the last 15 years I have been wearing Trifocals. :( This problem has just started in the last two weeks. It's driving me nutz!!!!!! :( (a very short drive ;) )

My right eye is definitely dominant with the glasses off or with the old ones on. So I guess I had best take a drive back to the Eye Doctor and find out if the prescription is right or not.

I'm guessing with the experience that GPR has, it must just be old age creeping up on him.

Well, I did a bunch of shooting today while The Old Sarge watched and made observations about my form. I had her watch my eyes as I drew and shot. I tested out everything that I have been told to try out and I found that the best tip was to blink before the shot. :) I was then able to keep both eyes open during the shot and to shoot dead on the X ring! :)

Thanks to everyone for the Tips and the help!
